Prime Minister Directs Incentives for Rawdah Industrial Zone and Calls for Accelerating Aqaba–Ma’an Dry Port Project

Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan has directed that the Rawdah Industrial Zone, part of the Ma’an Development Area, be granted the same incentives and benefits currently offered to the King Hussein Bin Abdullah II Industrial City in Karak Governorate, including preferential electricity tariffs, land pricing, and employment support incentives. These measures will remain in place until the zone is supplied with natural gas through the Arab Gas Pipeline, with the aim of accelerating investment activity in the area.

During his visit to the Ma’an Development Area, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of expediting the completion of the master plan, as well as the technical and economic feasibility studies for the Aqaba–Ma’an Dry Port Project before the end of the current year.

The Aqaba–Ma’an Dry Port Project will be developed on an area of 4,000 dunums, with potential for future expansion in line with preliminary plans. The project will be implemented in phases and integrated with the Ma’an Development Area, serving as the nucleus of a new logistics, customs, and industrial hub. It will also be connected to the Aqaba Railway Project, for which the foundation stone is expected to be laid following financial close in early 2027. The railway project will be implemented as a Jordanian–Emirati joint investment on a 50-50 partnership basis, valued at USD 2.3 billion, through a 42-kilometer rail link extending from the Shidiya route to the dry port.

The Prime Minister underscored the need for close coordination among all relevant ministries, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, and the Ma’an Development Area to ensure the successful implementation of the project and the achievement of its economic and developmental objectives for Aqaba, Ma’an, and all governorates across the Kingdom.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister toured two industrial companies operating in the Ma’an Development Area: Arab Falcons Electronics and Robina Fertilizers.

Arab Falcons Electronics occupies an area of 12 dunums and provides 70 employment opportunities. The company operates four production lines manufacturing household appliances. Its exports reached JOD 2.7 million last year, with products exported to several Arab countries in addition to Türkiye.

Robina Fertilizers recorded exports worth JOD 7 million last year, accounting for approximately 90 percent of its total production. The company operates a specialized laboratory and has an annual production capacity of 15,000 tonnes. Its products are exported to Arab and African markets, as well as Albania, China, and India. The company is among the beneficiaries of government support provided through the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

The Prime Minister also directed the relevant authorities to provide the necessary facilitation measures for the reopening of Sanam Glass Industries in the Qasabat Ma’an District, following government efforts to resolve the challenges that had hindered the company’s operations over recent years. Once operational, the factory is expected to create approximately 200 jobs.
